The country is burning; Sri Lanka appeals to Russia for fuel; Only India provides all emergency assistance.


The Sri Lankan government has made every effort to get fuel despite the unstable regime. Sri Lanka has requested Russia to supply fuel for electricity and vehicles. Meanwhile, in the press conference, the minister lavishly praised India for providing all emergency help in crises.

Sri Lanka's Energy Minister Kanchena Wijeshekara spoke to the Russian Ministry of Energy Affairs. Kanchena informed that the first priority is not to disrupt the daily affairs of the Sri Lankan citizens of over two crores and that they are communicating with many countries to overcome the crises. Along with this, the minister highlighted that only India is always ready to give goods as loan.

In Sri Lanka, which is facing a severe fuel shortage, the government has issued an order imposing rationing. Fuel will now be available through the National Fuel Pass system. Fuel is restricted for essential services only. Refueling is allowed only once a week.

A system has been prepared for fuel distribution by adding a QR code along with the National Identity Card. All the vehicle and personal information of the refueler is entered together with the QR code. Meanwhile, the power cut continues in the country.
