The Prime Minister today dedicated the 296-km world- class Nilavar expressway to the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared pictures of the Bundelkhand Expressway in Uttar Pradesh through social media.This expressway is comparable to any major road in the world. The expressway is named Atal Patha in memory of late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The total distance is 296 km. The expressway, which is a four-lane road, can be converted into a six-line road in the future.
With the opening of this road, which passes through seven districts of Uttar Pradesh, the travel time between Delhi and Chitragun will be reduced from fourteen hours to eight hours. The route starts from Bharatkup in Chitrakoot and will meet the Agra- Lucknow Expressway at Etawah. The road passes through the districts of Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakoot etc. Interlinking these districts and connecting them to Delhi NCR via Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Yamuna Expressway, this road will also lead to massive development in the region.
This road is considered to be crucial for the success of the Defense Corridor project in Uttar Pradesh.The road consists of 14 major bridges, 268 minor bridges, 18 flyovers, 6 toll passes, 7 ramps and 214 underpasses. The scheme was launched in April 2017 by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On February 29, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for UP's fourth expressway. The total cost of the project is Rs 14,761 crore. The road construction cost is 7,766 crores. The project, which was supposed to be completed in 36 months, was completed in 28 months. But the Yogi Adityanath government has completed the work by saving 1132 crore rupees through e-tendering. The developers of the project are Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industry Development Authority.
