Rahul Gandhi was punished for insulting the Modi community. As the punishment was two years in jail, he lost his membership in the Lok Sabha along with the conviction. This is the second time that Rahul has been convicted in a defamation case. In the case of calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a thief, he apologized unconditionally to the Supreme Court and escaped punishment. The Supreme Court had warned that such mistakes should not be repeated. The court verdict did not change Rahul. Rahul's scandal started when he lost power in 2014. He is currently facing six defamation cases. In all sixes, the possibility of punishment is very high. Because he called it untruth as an opinion.
He gave a speech in Maharashtra in 2014 that RSS killed Gandhiji. The group asked him that this is a controversy which has been examined and decided by the Supreme Court and that the allegation is false and therefore he should withdraw the allegation and apologize. Rahul repeated the same allegation. Then there was a defamation case. In 2015, he lied that the RSS did not admit him to a Vaishnava temple in Assam. The concerned persons demanded that the incident be untrue and hence an apology should be given. That too became a defamation case. In 2018, Amit Shah was insulted in connection with demonetisation. It was also a case because what was said was untrue. In 2019, Gauri Lankesh was linked to the murder and told lies. That too is in court as a defamation case.
Rahul is a leader who is used to telling lies to abuse people to get power by any means. Freedom of speech is not the right to insult others. Freedom of expression can turn into anarchy if taken too far. This chaos will destroy democracy. That is why the framers of the constitution called for self-control and not telling lies while giving opinions. Telling and spreading lies is not part of freedom of speech. Whoever is speaking should exercise self-control. The law has to control those who do not exercise self-control. This also applies to the media.
This principle also applies to Rahul Gandhi. He thinks he has the right to exaggerate and spread lies. Therefore, he has become accustomed to breaking the law. As a result, six cases are pending in various courts for repeating the same offence. Whoever breaks the law should be punished. Congressmen want Rahul not to be punished for family glory. They claim and promote themselves as the Nehru-Gandhi family. It remains one of his many goosebumps that he felt that truth and non-violence were his religion after being convicted of lying. Convicted for lying, he joins Mahatma Gandhi for salvation.
