Islamic scholar Atiqur Rahman says that Nupur Sharma is not wrong in what he said about the life of Prophet Muhammad. In the India News debate program, he clarified that what Nupur said about the Prophet was true. There is a need for discussion on such issues. Religious scholars who disagree with what Nupur said should resolve the issue through discussion. Atiqur also called for an end to the atmosphere of hatred and threats created on social media.
In the debate, VHP leader Vinod Bansal said that he supports Atiqur Rahman's statement that there should be a discussion on the life of Prophet Muhammad. There is much to learn from the life of the Prophet. This is the country where we are inspired to discuss and learn about the lives of Lord Rama and Krishna. Then we should be ready to study the life of Prophet Muhammad too, Bansal said.
What Nupur said has been said by many Islamic scholars and Islamic books. What is wrong with Nupur's statement? Did they misquote? Was her style and behavior wrong? Or are there false narratives in Islamic texts? Bansal also asked Atiqur why Islamists were calling for her beheading. Atiqur's reply to this was – No, Nupur Sharma is not wrong. If any Islamic scholar or Muslim thinks they are wrong, Islam should be ready to forgive them and explain what they have done wrong.
