India has so far distributed more than 235 million corona vaccines to 98 countries under the Vaccine Maitri initiative. Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Dr. Suman K. Berry disclosed the information in this regard. He also stated that the Center had made interventions to reduce the impact of Corona and protect people's lives. And that India's vaccine manufacturing has led to free vaccinations for the people. He added that it is being conducted in the most extensive manner in the world.
The India Vaccine Maitri initiative was launched in January 2021. The initiative was launched as a major diplomatic effort by India to manufacture and distribute vaccines to other countries. Meanwhile Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Morocco, South Africa, Afghanistan, Mexico, DR Congo, Nigeria, United Kingdom and many other countries are the main beneficiaries of Vaccine Maitri project.
India started international export of vaccines on January 20, 2021 after starting its own vaccine manufacturing. Bhutan and Maldives are the first countries to receive vaccines from India. Apart from this, Dr. Suman K Berry also spoke about the National Master Plan, Prime Minister's Gati Shakti Yojana in his speech at HLPF 2022. He opined that India's plan will interest others and reduce the costs and risks of digital technology to the global community.
