Crucial information about Congress' secret moves to implicate then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the post- Godhra riots case is out. The affidavit submitted by the investigation team in the Sessions Court states that the then Congress leader Ahmed Patel had hatched a conspiracy to trap Modi. Teesta Setalwad, who was arrested in the case, was also involved in this conspiracy, the investigation team said. The investigation team informed this while opposing the bail application including that of Setalvad.
According to the affidavit, Ahmed Patel gave Rs 30 lakh to Teesta Setalvad to bring down the Modi government in Gujarat and trap Narendra Modi. Citing testimony, the investigation team said that the conspiracy was led by former Rajya Sabha member and political affairs secretary of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Ahmed Patel.
Teesta Setalvad, former IPS officers RB Sreekumar and Sanjeev Bhatt hatched a conspiracy to trap BJP leaders in the post-Godhra riots case. They have joined hands with the Congress to destroy the Modi government. Four months after the riots,Teesta Setalvad and Sanjeev Bhatt came to Delhi and secretly met Ahmed Patel. They also held secret meetings with the central leaders of that time. The affidavit also says that a decision was taken in this meeting to trap the BJP leaders.
Ahmed Patel had given Setalwad Rs 5 lakh in a meeting held after the riots.This has been clarified on the basis of testimony. Ahmed Patel then gave Setalwad Rs 25 lakh at Circuit House in Shahibaugh, Ahmedabad. It is also said that this money was not used for the relief work of riot victims.
Setalvad had also demanded a Rajya Sabha seat from the Congress. Witness revelations reveal that Setalwad asked a Congress leader why the party was giving "only Shabana and Javed a chance" and why he was not made a member of the Rajya Sabha.
